Sofia Lind

In her work Sofia Lind plays with muted colors and lively patterns in a way that’s fresh and highly expressive, to create delightful pieces of art that catches the attention of the viewers.

Sofia Lind is a designer and artist from Gothenburg, Sweden. After studying Design BA at HDK, the Academy of Design and Crafts, she moved to Stockholm, where she is now based. She took her master in visual communication at Konstfack, graduating in 2018. Lind has been working as an artist/painter doing several exhibitions, both group and solo shows, including Liljevalch's Spring Exhibition 2021 amongst others.

In her work Sofia Lind plays with muted colors and lively patterns in a way that's fresh and highly expressive, to create delightful pieces of art that catch the attention of the viewers. In her work she often depicts how women interact with parts of life, such as language or nature, and makes birds and flowers come alive as charming characters. Lind only works on her art digitally at the very end of her creative process, to ensure that the media she likes to use in her paintings keep their vivid character. When Sofia Lind contacted Fine Little Day for a collaboration a few years ago we were instantly enchanted by her work. It felt new, original and made us curious. The rest is history.

Q: How do you start your day?

A: I start the day by reading my to do lists I did the night before of what to prioritize for the day. Without my lists I end up starting small and big projects all day. Some days the lists won’t help and that’s ok.

Q: What’s your longest-held work ritual?

A: Do trust your intuition in the beginning of a process and sort out after.

Q: They say that “imitation is the highest form of flattery”. Your design seems to inspire many, are you flattered/bothered?

A: Sometimes I hear from people that they tried painting for the first time because of me. To be the one who inspired them is amazing!I think everyone wants to do their own thing, so if anyone is inspired by me I’m happy. But when larger companies try to make copies (or very similar) things just to sell a product - makes me wonder about their creative process. But it also reminds me to keep going forward, and develop my work.

Q: How do you wind down?

A: Being outside, walking or running. Meeting friends and being with my children.

Q: Favorite kind of music?

A: It really varies. But I love listening to soundtracks. I recently saw Linje lusta at ”Dramaten” and that soundtrack is perfect for summer road trips.

Q: What was your first job, and are you happy with where you are today, work wise?

A: During high school I cleaned a school two days a week and it was really good work. It was a small elementary school and coming there when the school was empty and seeing the process from dirty to clean was really satisfying. However Im really happy with my work today but I would love tutoring in art/design school in near future.
